FAQs - Chrysalis Counselling & Consultancy
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is a gentle conversation about what’s happening for you and what you’d like support with. There’s no pressure to share everything at once — we move at your pace.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can contact me directly to book a session.
Do you offer online counselling?
Yes. Sessions are available via Zoom, as well as face-to-face in Bendigo.
Trauma & EMDR
Do you offer EMDR therapy?
Yes. EMDR is available as part of individual counselling when it’s appropriate. Sessions are guided by a trauma-informed approach and structured around safety, processing, and integration.
Is counselling only for people who have experienced trauma?
No. Trauma counselling can also help people navigate life challenges, regulate emotions, and build confidence, even if you don’t identify as “traumatised.”
Couples Counselling
Do you work with couples where one or both partners are neurodivergent?
Yes. My couples work is trauma-informed and neuro-affirming, helping partners build communication, understanding, and reconnection.
How often should couples attend sessions?
Frequency varies. Some couples start weekly, others fortnightly. We decide together based on your goals and pace.
Neurodivergent / ADHD & Autism Support
Do you support adults with ADHD or autism?
Yes. I offer neuro-affirming counselling for late-diagnosed ADHDers and autistic adults, as well as those exploring or learning about their neurodivergence.
How is neuro-affirming counselling different?
It honours your unique wiring, sensory world, and lived experience. We focus on practical strategies, emotional regulation, and self-understanding, rather than trying to “normalise” your behaviour.
NDIS Questions
Can I use NDIS funding for counselling?
Yes. I support self-managed, plan-managed, and NDIA-managed participants with counselling under Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living.
How are fees handled with NDIS funding?
Fees can align with your funding type, and invoicing is handled in line with your plan management or self-managed funding.
Additional Questions
How long does counselling take to have an effect?
Healing is rarely linear. Some clients notice change after a few sessions; others take longer. We focus on small, meaningful steps that build lasting skills and confidence.
What if I need to cancel a session?
I have a cancellation policy to ensure fairness and reliability. Details are on the Fees page.
