The Therapeutic Journey

Supporting Neurodiverse Women

Understanding, Honouring, Thriving

Living as a neurodiverse woman can be both a source of unique strengths and profound challenges. Sensory overload, emotional intensity, and societal expectations can make daily life exhausting — and even small experiences of misunderstanding can feel isolating.

Counselling with me is a journey — a process held at your pace, tailored to your sensory, emotional, and cognitive needs. Together, we create a space where you can feel understood, supported, and empowered to navigate the world in a way that honours who you are.

1. Safety & Awareness

The first step is building a foundation of safety and understanding yourself — your triggers, needs, and unique wiring.

This stage focuses on developing grounding strategies, emotional regulation, and self-compassion practices tailored to neurodiverse experiences.

Focus areas

  • Identifying sensory and emotional triggers

  • Practicing grounding and self-regulation strategies

  • Building understanding of personal strengths and challenges

  • Learning ways to communicate needs effectively

Typically 4–6 sessions, weekly or fortnightly.

We begin by creating safety for your mind and body, so that exploration and growth

can happen without overwhelm.

2. Healing & Integration

Once safety is established, we explore patterns that may have created stress, anxiety, or self-doubt.
We work on understanding the impact of neurodiverse traits in relationships, work, and self-perception — and develop strategies to navigate life with more ease and confidence.

Focus areas

  • Exploring past experiences of overwhelm, burnout, or misunderstanding

  • Understanding emotional and relational patterns

  • Co-creating strategies for managing life’s challenges

  • Strengthening self-compassion and inner validation

Typically 6–10 sessions, depending on your goals.

This phase helps you understand yourself more deeply — and begin to respond
to challenges with awareness and care.

3. Integration and Empowerment

With insight and coping strategies in place, we focus on living fully as a neurodiverse woman — using your strengths, managing your needs, and creating sustainable routines that honour your energy and values.

Focus areas

  • Strengthening self-advocacy

  • Applying coping strategies in daily life

  • Building routines that respect your sensory and emotional needs

  • Celebrating your unique strengths and capacities

Typically 3–6 sessions, spaced as suits you.

This is where understanding transforms into empowerment

— living in a way that truly honours who you are.

4. Ongoing Support

Some women find it helpful to continue with occasional sessions — a space to reflect, check in, or adjust strategies as life evolves.

These are available as single sessions.

Your pace, your process.
This journey is guided by your needs and comfort.

These stages offer a roadmap, not a requirement

— a supportive container to help you thrive as the neurodiverse woman you are.
