About Angela

I’m Angela Mitten, the founder of Chrysalis Counselling & Consultancy. I’m a trauma-informed counsellor who supports people to gently untangle old patterns, feel more grounded in themselves, and create relationships that feel safer and more connected.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply human. I draw on EMDR, attachment-focused work, ACT, and a parts-informed lens to help people make sense of their inner world and move toward the life they want to live. Clients often describe our sessions as spacious, reflective, and calming — a place where they can exhale and feel seen.

I bring my own lived experience to my work as well. I am a late-diagnosed ADHDer and autistic adult, and I’ve spent many years navigating life, relationships, and self-understanding through that lens. This perspective informs my approach: I know what it’s like to feel misunderstood, to overcompensate, and to seek clarity and acceptance in a world that doesn’t always accommodate neurodivergent ways of being. I aim to create a space where neurodivergent clients feel truly seen, validated, and supported.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent more than 25 years working in education, supporting individuals, families, and communities. I hold a Master of Counselling from Monash University and postgraduate training in EMDR, trauma therapy, and couples work.

My work is centred on helping you feel safe, understood, and able to move at your own pace. Whether you’re navigating trauma, relationships, or the challenges of being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world, my goal is to provide a space where you can connect with yourself, reclaim your energy, and take steps toward a life that feels aligned and authentic.
